Ms. Bourque was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Ms. Bourque graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Louisiana State University Medical Center in 1984.  Ms. Bourque practiced nursing for four years, principally in the area of critical care.  Ms. Bourque received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1991, and graduated in the top quarter of her class.  During law school, she received American Jurisprudence Awards for Torts I and Administration of Criminal Justice.  Ms. Bourque also received the Outstanding Member, Moot Court Program Award for 1989-90, and was a member of the Moot Court Board in 1990-91.

Ms. Bourque was a member of the American, Louisiana, and New Orleans Bar Associations.  Ms. Bourque served on the Editorial Board for the ABA Health Law Section publication, The Health Lawyer, and as the Chair of the ABA Health Law Section’s Health Care Litigation and Risk Management Interest Group.  Ms. Bourque has spoken on many litigation and health care topics.

Ms. Bourque practiced in the area of defense litigation and health care law, and her practice included the areas of medical malpractice, hospital liability, casualty, worker’s compensation, products liability, insurance, health care licensure and credentialing, and health care regulatory issues.  Ms. Bourque had extensive experience in all aspects of trial preparation, jury and judge trials, and appellate practice, and had many published appellate decisions.
